SMALL SIDED GAMES (SSG)

End every practice with a small sided game.

Remember that the kids just want to play so at the end of every practice, have a game. As a coach, say nothing but watch. See the expression of joy on their faces. Your coaching is finished. Let the kids have the freedom to play.

Matches are the reality of soccer. Small matches are the best way to improve the creativity of the player. That is the best way to convert all the concepts which you learn in positional games and SSP into reality in the matches.

The intensity of the small sided games must be high because the higher the intensity, the less decision time. It is extremely important to enable players to try new things and fail. They must take risk. That is how the creativity flourishes.

The development of a soccer player is a combination of giving them the knowledge, the players making good decisions and the players playing with creativity. In small sided games the players’ decision making and creativity shine through.
